Rest is best + lifelong friends + 32 weeks!

Still on a fruit smoothie and sandwich kick for lunches right now. Any free time I have is spent in our living room admiring our tree and Christmas decorations.

I am also living in sweats and always sprawled out. I’m starting to get slightly uncomfortable if I stay in any seated position too long, so I move between our couch and recliner anytime I’m in the living room.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly. It is set in WWII and follows three girls’ journeys through the war. There are parts of it that are hard to read, but I think it is important to know what happened. One of the girls was a doctor at one of the concentration camps, one was a prisoner there, and another worked to help those in need. AMAZING book with a lot of factual information. I loved it.

Cheese and carbs. That’s all I want right now. Nut Thins with melted cheese are SO delicious.

Jake and I watched a cute movie Wednesday night – it was called Holiday in the Wild. It was wonderful to lounge on the couch and cuddle. The girls sat like this for a long time.

I slept in Thursday morning (well, really every morning), then made coffee, grabbed my book, and moved to the living room. I highly recommend this book if you or someone you know is expecting – Expecting Better by Emily Oster. It is broken up into three parts: the first trimester, the second trimester, and the third trimester. The author takes tons of research on various topics and analyzes it then explains everything in an easy to understand way. I have very much enjoyed having this as a resource throughout each trimester.

I met two of my girlfriends from high school for brunch and it made my week. I had a small high school class and we have stayed really close throughout the years – it makes my heart so happy. It was wonderful to spend time with these two and catch up.

Jake picked up standby for the rest of the week and weekend, so he got called into work Thursday morning and ended up working 17 hours. Poor guy. I am really hoping he doesn’t get called in today or tomorrow so we can spend Christmas with our families. I was pretty lazy after brunch yesterday…I ended up falling asleep on the couch at one point. I was motivated to be productive when I woke up, so I knocked out some small projects around the house and ordered pizza for dinner. Grease was on TV, which is one of my favorite movies, so I watched that and lounged after finishing up my projects.

We have Christmas with my family today, so I started packing up presents. I love this little corner of our living room so much. Christmas decorations make things feel so cozy.

I haven’t updated you recently on my carpal tunnel stuff, but I had two really bad nights that I think shared earlier this week. After those, I ended up calling an occupational therapist to see if they could get me in. They ended up being able to squeeze me in Wednesday afternoon, which I was so thankful for. Turns out, everything I was doing with the physical therapist I was seeing was exacerbating my symptoms. The occupational therapist told me that pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel is very different than regular carpal tunnel. The movements the PT was having me do were to treat regular carpal tunnel, making mine worse. Even the brace I have been wearing is wrong for the carpal tunnel I am dealing with. The OT made me a brace, which is uncomfortable but has helped already, and I go back and see her every week for the next few weeks. I am already sleeping better just having this new brace, so I am extremely hopeful that she’s able to help me more. Sooo, if you’re dealing with pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel, know that it is different than regular carpal tunnel!

Cooper-man is 32 weeks today. I can’t believe we only have 8ish weeks left!

I think back to where we were last Christmas – still grieving the loss of our babies from our first IVF round. So much can happen in a year. So thankful God took our suffering and turned it into something even better than we could’ve imagined.

Merry Christmas Eve, friends – I am so thankful for each and every one of you. <3
