Weekend Wrap-up: Christmas edition

My heart sure is full after a weekend spent with our families. We feel so blessed to have all of our people within 10 minutes of us. We run around a lot on holidays, but we sure love getting to spend time with everyone. We had Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve day. It was a relaxing day and was so fun to watch Eleanor open up her presents. She is almost three and gets so excited about everything. I still can’t believe our little guy will be here for our next Christmas. He is by far our best gift.

We had boiled shrimp, salad, and lots of carbs. My favorite kind of meal.

One of our traditions is to have a Happy Birthday, Jesus cake. My Mom got a cookie cake this year and it was DELICIOUS.

We failed to get a picture before my sister and brother-in-law left, but I remembered to take one as we were leaving. My parents move into their new house in January, so this was our last Christmas in this house. 2022 is going to be a big year for all of us!

Christmas morning started with some coffee sipping and relaxing at home celebrating our own Christmas before heading to Jake’s grandma’s house to spend the morning with his family. Lu and Rhea enjoyed some cuddles before we headed out.

And now we begin a photo series…I call this, Family Photos are Difficult. All Rhea wanted was her own photoshoot.

The second the rest of us stepped in, she wasn’t having it.

Zero cooperation.

I’m sure things will be even more chaotic when we add a baby to the mix. ; )

Merry Christmas, friends! I hope you had the best weekend and were able to spend it doing whatever you love best. <3

I was so worn out all day yesterday. I think just from being on the go so much for Christmas. I didn’t get out of bed until 8:30, then did some laundry and vacuumed, before spending the rest of the day on the couch. I even took a nap at one point. Jake went on a mountain bike ride yesterday morning then spent the rest of the day working in our bathrooms with his Dad. They got so much accomplished – they framed the new wall and got almost all of the old wall it taken out. I will take some pictures and share them on Wednesday. I always feel so guilty lounging and relaxing while he is working so hard, but I could not shake the exhaustion or headache yesterday, so the relaxing won. We picked up dinner and watched Yellowstone and 1883 last night. It was so nice to relax together and just spend some time together not doing anything.

The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always kind of strange. There isn’t a ton going on, so I’m going to enjoy some downtime. I still have a few more weeks off from work, so I’m going to soak that up. I go back to work in January, but will not teach again until March. That way, we didn’t have to hire anyone to take over my classes for me. I think it will work out great – all three of my classes are already built and ready to go, so that will help as I try to balance working full-time and a newborn.

Happy Monday, friends!
