Weekend Wrap-up: maternity photo fun + relaxing + finally used our trainer!

One way to tell we had a busy-ish weekend? I failed to take many pictures. HA! My weekend wrap up posts our usually very picture heavy, but I failed to take many pictures this weekend. My Friday was pretty busy – I had a meeting with the entire faculty at my university and we never know how long those monthly meetings are going to last. Sometimes it is an hour or two and sometimes it is four to five hours. Friday happened to be a little over four hours long, so that ate up a lot of my day. Before hopping into the meeting, I made a massive smoothie for lunch.

I don’t have a single picture from Saturday. We had our maternity photo shoot, which was so much fun. I will share all the details once we get our photos back, but our amazing photographer took pictures of us for three hours. I know we are going to have some incredible photos to remember this pregnancy by. After our photo shoot, we met our families for dinner, which was also a blast. By the time dinner was over, I was so exhausted. I have been pretty lazy and soaking up lots of downtime the last few weeks, so I am not used to running around like that all day.

We woke up to lots of family cuddles Sunday morning.

Jake and I both took our Sunday morning slowly, which was so nice. I made coffee, which we sipped in bed. When we finally got up, Jake headed out for a run and I got ready for church. I still love these maternity overalls. In the past, I haven’t worn overalls because my hips are wide and I have never found a pair that fit me very well. These maternity ones are so comfy and since they are a stretchy sweat material, they slide right over my hips. These are from Old Navy and a girlfriend who just had a sweet baby of her own gifted them to me (thank you, Mel!).

After church, we grabbed lunch and then came home to watch the Chiefs play. I am trying to soak up all the us time that we have left.

Last year, we got a new Wahoo trainer for our bikes. Things have just been so crazy, we haven’t been able to use it yet. Jake moved it into the living room so he could ride while we watched the game. This trainer is awesome and I cannot wait to try it out after I recover from my C-section. It is super quiet, so I will be able to ride while the baby sleeps. I am definitely going to take things easy and let my body fully recover before I jump back into my normal activities, but I am so so ready get back to running, riding, and lifting. I haven’t felt like it these past few weeks, well, lifting that is…I haven’t attempted the other two in MONTHS. But I decided not to force myself to do something if it doesn’t sound enjoyable right now. I am soaking up this downtime!

We cheered him on from the couch.

When you really, really, REALLY love your Dad and just sit and stare at him. Rhea does this all the time and it cracks me up. She sure loves her Dad.

Nothing sounded good for dinner last night, but we found a gift card to Subway and another one to Andy’s, so we grabbed sandwiches and had ice cream for dessert. It’s all about balance, friends. I had a veggie sandwich from Subway and then a delicious concrete from Andy’s. I love Andy’s, but it always upsets my stomach, so I definitely regretted inhaling this whole concrete, but it was tasty in the moment.

I have a pretty busy day today, but the rest of my week seems pretty open. I cannot believe we are a little over two weeks from meeting baby boy. I’m about to grab groceries so I can start making some freezer meals, I know these next two weeks are going to fly by. My mom is going to come over early the week of our C-section and help me deep clean our entire house, which I am so thankful for. I am trying to slowly knock out other cleaning, freezer meals, and organizing. I figure if I can do a little each day, it won’t seem so daunting.

Happy Monday, friends!
