Strawberry lover + sleep is hard + finally felt good on a workout!

Coop wasn’t a huge fruit fan when we started solids, but now he’s coming around! Strawberries are a current favorite.

He is such a goofball. He has peanut butter up his nose from his waffle. Ha!

Dinner Wednesday night was delicious. Leftover burgers topped with pepper Jack cheese and tri-tip and a massive salad on the side. I could eat this meal every day.

We started some ‘sleep training’ this week. We are following the Taking Cara Babies plan. Coop has slept with me for the past six months. I looove it, but recently, he has been waking up 10-12 times a night. I think it was simply because I was right there. He would wake up to nurse and/or use me as a pacifier. Jake and I decided to try the TCB plan to see if it would help him sleep a little better. We have two out of fourteen nights under our belts and we are tired, but SO proud of him. Coop has done great and been in his crib for 12 hours both nights. He woke up five times the first night, but then slept from 3am until 7am. He was so excited to see us in the morning. And I think we snuggled most of the day. I cried twice the first night. It was so strange going to bed without him. And hearing him cry just broke my heart. We like the TCB plan because you don’t leave your baby alone for very long. Neither of us were fans of that. But it’s still hard to hear your baby cry even if it’s for 5-10 minutes. I think I only slept a few hours Wednesday night, so I was pretty dang tired all day Thursday.

Celebratory breakfast for our big boy! Waffles and cheesy eggs.

He was pretty excited!

At one point during the first night, I sobbed to Jake that Coop wouldn’t ever want to snuggle me again because he would think I abandoned him. Jake told me that wouldn’t be the case. He was right! Coop still knows I love him.

We can still take naps together, so that’s what we attempted yesterday. I couldn’t fall asleep, but Coop had a death grip on my nose to make sure I didn’t go anywhere.

After his nap, we did a little bike riding. He can now climb on and off by himself! It’s pretty impressive.

Our nanny came over in the afternoon, and since I had finished up some work for the day, I decided to knock out my workout run while she was with Coop. I had a tempo run and I’ve been struggling with them the last few weeks. I have felt flat, even on the treadmill. I was sure this workout wouldn’t be great since I only had gotten about three hours of sleep, but I figured I’d attempt it and see how things went.

I ended up feeling pretty good during my warm-up, so I headed to the track to knock out my three 10:00 pushes.

This is the face of someone who finally hit paces AND felt amazing. I felt so good my entire run. I couldn’t believe it. I think I smiled my entire cool-down.

I ended with nine miles for the day. I got a second wind during my run, but as soon as I got back home, I started to get so sleepy again.

It was right back to snuggling my sweet boy.

Dinner last night was pizza and salad. If you like ranch, put Sriracha on it. Amazing.

Y’all, night two was rough. Coop had five wake-ups, but it just seemed like he cried more often. He did sleep in longer stretches and calm down fairly quickly after we went in to soothe him, but I’m really hoping for a better night tonight. I’m so tired. Last night was my first night not nursing Coop during the night and he did great with it. I had to get up and pump twice, but hopefully in a few days, my milk will regulate and I won’t have to do that. I got about four ounces with those two quick pump sessions.

We have a fun day planned today – we are going to the dinosaur exhibit with my sister and Eleanor. I think Coop is going to LOOOVE it. I can’t wait to watch him.

Praaaaying for good sleep tonight.

Happy Friday, friends!
