A rough day + 4th fun + so thankful for our village

Little man is teething (we think…who really knows) and still getting over his ear infection, so he hasn’t been sleeping well. Poor Jake is still getting up with him all the time, so I’m sure he’s exhausted, too. I woke up to these snuggles and this smile Monday morning.

My mom came over Monday to watch Coop while I worked a little bit. They came to visit me in my office like this. Coop’s little smirk. Ha!

Lunches this week are rice, chicken, and veggies doused in Heinz 57. So. Good.

I spent most of Monday on the computer. Once my mom left, I played with Coop and tried to get him to nap. I think I overdid it and was pretty sore and sick feeling the rest of the night. It was rough. Jake got home from work and took Coop outside to play. I got started on dinner, which was quick and easy and super delicious! Salmon bowls (on a plate). These had salmon filets, homemade slaw, jasmine rice, mini cucumbers, and homemade Yum Yum sauce. I kind of followed THIS recipe. 10/10.

I felt like I had a fever all night Monday. I didn’t, but my body sure felt like it. I had chills and the shakes. It was miserable. And Coop didn’t sleep well, so it was a rough night for all of us. We slept in Tuesday morning and then Jake mowed our yard while little man and I played inside. Coop loves watching Jake mow.

Our neighborhood always has a fun parade on our street for the Fourth, so we got ready to go to that for a little bit. Coop rocked his tie-dye and Pit Vipers.

This cool dude had the best time at the parade.

Our friends, Chelsea and Michael, and their sweet girls, came over for the parade and it was just the best day! Despite our childrens’ faces…

After the parade, we headed to the pool for a little bit, but I had done way too much and was feeling miserable, so I left Jake and Coop at the pool and went home. I cried the whole drive home because I was frustrated and sad. I hate missing out on time with my family and I’m so tired of feeling so crummy. I know it takes time to heal, but man, I’m just ready to feel better. I’m the worst at recovering, which is silly, so I’m glad Jake made me go home. I laid on the couch for two hours and watched tv. I felt better after that! After I rested, I picked the boys up from the pool and we headed to meet my parents for dinner and fireworks.

I got to see this pretty girl, which I loved.

We didn’t end up staying very long, and missed the fireworks, but Coop and I were both done, so we headed home and went to bed. I sure do love these boys of mine. And I am extra EXTRA thankful for the incredible dad that Jake is. Coop hit the jackpot (so did I).

I am also thankful for all the people who have helped us since I had surgery. Jake’s sweet aunt is coming over this morning to play with Coop so I can work a little bit and then my mom will be here this afternoon. It really does take a village, especially when one of the parents isn’t 100%, and we absolutely have the best!

Happy Wednesday, friends!
