Weekend Wrap-up: travel + a hard day + the coolest dude!

We have been in Colorado Springs since Thursday morning! We took the van, and I love how spacious it is for long car trips. We camped in it Wednesday and Sunday nights, and stayed in an Airbnb in downtown Colorado Springs the rest of the time.

This mattress is SO comfortable. I am not a huge camping fan, but I do enjoy staying in the van. Coop LOOOVES it. He loves to run around and jump on everything.

Once we got to our Airbnb, Jake was pretty busy with a coaching conference, so it was mostly just mom and Coop time. Little man was obsessed with wearing Jake’s headlamp. He would want it on his head and just wear it all around the house.

We had a super scary incident Friday morning during my run. I shared all about it on Instagram and Facebook stories and don’t really want to rehash it all again, but we were screamed at and followed by a homeless man who seemed to be on drugs. It was terrifying. I immediately turned us around and sprinted toward the house we were staying in. I ended up super frazzled and couldn’t find our Airbnb after. Which sucked. Once I found it, I grabbed Coop from the stroller and just held him while I cried. It really shook me up, especially since I had my baby with me. I’m so thankful it didn’t end up being worse, but I definitely didn’t feel like running after that. In an effort to salvage our day, we headed to the zoo. Coop LOVED it.

After the zoo, we headed back to the Airbnb and took a much-needed nap. I was still pretty shaken up about what had happened that morning, so I was just thankful to hold my baby while he slept.

Once Jake was done with his conference for the day, we headed out to dinner. Cooper refused to take his sunglasses off during our meal, and then proceeded to flirt with our waitress. There is never a dull moment with this kid!

Jake and I shared this deliciousness. It was Lemon Tabasco chicken on top of mashed potatoes and broccoli.

Downtown Colorado Springs is not my favorite place, but I sure do love being with my boys in the mountains.

He woke up the next morning and immediately needed his glasses on again. I love the goofy faces he makes once he has them on.

On Saturday, we headed to Manitou Springs and explored a little bit while Jake was in the second day of his conference. After that, we came back to the Airbnb and both took epic naps.

Once Jake was finished with his conference, we headed out for a fun dinner, and then to a happy hour event with the rest of the attendees.

This wild man had a blast being the only child in attendance. He had free reign of the room we were in, so sprinted back and forth all night.

Sunday morning, I finally got a run in! I did not want to be anywhere near the downtown part of Colorado Springs, so we headed about 20 minutes outside of the city and found an adorable little park surrounded by awesome neighborhoods. Coop ran around and played at the park before getting into the stroller for my run.

Sure can’t beat these views!

I ran for an hour and Cooper snoozed the whole time. It felt so good to finally be able to run and feel safe.

After my run, we ran a few errands, and then headed to the hotel where Jake’s conference was finishing up. We grabbed lunch while we waited for him to join us.

The three of us shared this delicious burger and brussels, and also inhaled a plate of onion rings.

After lunch, we hopped in the van and started to make the trip home. We camped in the van last night, and then stopped in Hays, KS for my faculty meeting today. I got all set up in a super cute coffee shop there, and the boys went and played at a park. After my meeting, we grabbed a quick lunch, and then hopped back in the van. We will be home this evening and we are ready! It was a fun weekend getaway, but I am always ready to be home.

I have my mid-cycle appointment tomorrow, which will tell us if we are still on track to transfer next week. It all still seems surreal. The meds I am currently on make me pretty nauseated, so that hasn’t been fun, but other than that I feel okay!

Happy Monday, friends!
