Weekend Wrap-up: KC + lineman rodeo fun + beta test is tomorrow!

We spent the weekend in KC at the lineman rodeo! It was so much fun, but we are all real worn out. This month has been bonkers with lots of travel and we are ready to be home for awhile. Jake spent most of the week in KC at a safety conference before the rodeo started Friday. Coop and I joined him Friday night for the big bbq. The food was delicious.

The rodeo was all day Saturday. Jake headed to the rodeo grounds really early that morning. Coop and I slept in until about 7:30, ate breakfast, got bundled up, and then headed to watch Jake and his team.

This kid had the best time watching all the linemen. He was able to pick Jake out of the crowd, which was amazing to me.

The guys participated in multiple events. It’s always so cool to watch them. This event is called Hurt Man Rescue. They have to safely lower the mannequin to the ground and then do some other work on the pole.

Jake is the lower guy here.

We loved watching our guy do his thing.

I look forward to this jambalaya every single yet. It’s so delicious.

Just over here still doing shots in random places!

I can’t remember what this event was called, but the guys did a great job! Jake is on the left.

Coop was pretty upset that he couldn’t go into the areas where the guys were competing. I think he wanted to show us how quickly he could climb a pole.

This event is the speed climb. They climb up as fast as they can with an egg in a bag. They hold the handle of the bag in their mouth as they climb. Once at the top, they have to put the bag on a nail at the top of the pole, put the raw egg in their mouth, and climb back down as quickly as they can without breaking the egg. It’s crazy.

After the rodeo, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the big banquet Saturday night. Coop in a button down is my favorite thing.

Why does he look like a teenager? I cant handle it.

This was my third rodeo and Coop’s second!

Wild man.

This is a huge event, so there’s a lot of waiting around before the big dinners.

Coop sure loves Britney!

They always serve prime rib at the banquet after the rodeo. It’s delicious. All three of us shared this plate of food. It was so much!

Coop and I stayed at the banquet until about 8:30 before deciding to call it a night. We were both ready for bed.

We grabbed breakfast in KC before heading home. We got home about 1pm. Jake and Coop laid down for a nap, and I unpacked and started laundry. We headed to Jake’s parents’ house for dinner Sunday night. Coop found this huge bear and climbed all over it all night.

Ganny and shuffleboard – two of Coop’s favorite things.

This handsome dude slept in his crib until 8:30 this morning! He must’ve been worn out from our fun weekend.

I have my first blood test tomorrow morning! So far, I feel pretty normal. I’m bloated, nauseated, and having hot flashes, but that’s most likely from the meds. No matter what, we will share this week with you what our results are. Probably on Friday! Thank you for your kind words and the continued prayers. They mean so much to us!

Happy Monday, friends!

Prayers from Michigan! I’ve commented a few times and have been reading your blog for a few years. It’s fun to follow along with your sweet family. That jambalaya looks amazing! Do they share the recipe?

Thank you so much, Becky! I just saw that my original comment never posted. So sorry!

And no, I don’t have the recipe. I sure wish I did! It’s the best jambalaya I’ve ever had!
