Work from home mom life + what is food? + a scary day

We had some more awful weather Monday. Ice everywhere! I had some work I needed to do, but since we were stuck inside and no one could get to us, I worked in little pockets of time. I was able to get all my grading knocked out, so that was good. We had the best day together!

Coop lined up all his dinosaurs to watch Bluey with him. It was adorable.

I worked in bed next to this adorable snoozing Coop.

When he woke up, he looked at my belly and said, “baby?” then leaned over and kissed baby brother. It was so sweet!

He loves to grab my hats and ride his horse. He’ll point at the hats and say, “Cowboy!” Haha! I love it so much.

Finally someone else who has wild and crazy hair! I’m no longer the only one. Sorry, Jake…we love your bald head.

Poor Lu was snoozing in her kennel and Cooper climbed right in. This boy loves his pups.

The only breakfast that sounds good right now is Malt-O-Meal. I add brown sugar and peanut butter. It’s delicious.

I am still working on consolidating all of our stuff to make room in our spare room for Jake to start construction in there. I tackled our medicine/all the random things cabinet in our hallway. I threw away so much…we had medicine that was over 10 years expired. Yikes.

We had a very scary day yesterday. I shared all about it in my stories, but Coop spiked a fever that I couldn’t get down. When it hit 103.2, even with both Tylenol and Motrin, I took him to see our pediatrician. She found an ear infection and pneumonia, and ran a full respiratory panel. I took him home after grabbing antibiotics and he slept for about 30 minutes. When he woke up, he was SO hot. I checked his temperature and it had continued to climb. It was now 104. I immediately called Jake crying, who told me to take him to urgent care. Coop was so out of it and seemed to be almost hallucinating. It was really, really scary. I took this picture at urgent care. When they checked his vitals, he still had a fever and everything else was also elevated. They gave him more Tylenol and sent us to the waiting room to wait for the doctor. Coop fell asleep while we waited and while he napped, I could feel his fever breaking. I was so thankful. We waited about three hours to see the doctor. Once we were with the doctor, Coop was back to his normal self. The urgent care doctor made the same diagnosis our pediatrician did, but switched Coop to a stronger antibiotic.

It’s so heart breaking when your baby is so sick. While we were waiting to see the urgent care doctor, our pediatrician’s office called and said the respiratory panel came back showing Coop also had two viruses, which basically amounted to a bad cold. All of those things combined made him run such a high fever.

He was already so much better last night. This was just a few hours later when we were back home. Thank you, Jesus! He woke up this morning and was ready to play. It’s amazing what medicine can do!

So very grateful for our health and access to modern medicine. I try to never take either one for granted.

Happy Wednesday, friends!
